These socks share a stated 60% merino, 38% nylon and 2% Lycra blend. The buying decision is therefore not “which has more wool?” It is whether the cushion construction and available height suit your boot and day. The walking-sock shortlist brings boot space and wear expectations into the wider choice before you settle on a weight label.
| Choice | Lightweight | Midweight |
|---|---|---|
| Cushion description | Along bottom of foot | Full heel-to-toe cushioning |
| Heights | Crew and boot | Crew, boot and over-the-calf |

A taller sock is not automatically the heavier sock
Both offer crew and boot lengths. Only the captured Midweight listing adds over-the-calf. Select height separately from the thickness category; the boot-cuff guide uses the manufacturer’s heel-to-cuff measurements.
The Lightweight source includes Steven’s early deterioration complaint alongside Dan’s more-than-one-season account. The Midweight source is favorable but small. That does not establish Midweight as the more durable product.
