XKG Summit Tent Weight: What Minimum and Total Packed Actually Include

2 min read

Table of Contents

For the Summit 2P, “minimum weight” and “total packed weight” describe different sets of equipment. Use the complete set you intend to carry, not the smallest number in the listing.

Published configuration Included in that description Weight
Minimum Rain fly, footprint, poles 2 lb 13 oz
Total packed Stakes, poles, rain fly, tent body, carry bags and included footprint 4 lb 11 oz

Make a component list before comparing tents

  1. Write down the body, fly, footprint, poles, stakes and bags you will actually carry.
  2. Compare that list with the manufacturer’s stated weight basis. A fly-and-footprint configuration omits the mesh body.
  3. If you split the load with a partner, record each person’s share without changing the total system weight.

The official component list also gives individual weights, with rounded or inconsistent detail such as stake totals. Do not force those numbers to sum perfectly or present a recalculated total as a measured result.

Why the lighter figure is not a free saving

Removing the body changes the enclosure and its protection from insects and wind-driven material. This guide identifies what the number includes; it does not prescribe an unsupported pitch or claim equivalent protection.

Use the full tent review for owner accounts of the layout and fly-clearance limits. For the packing list, keep the 4 lb 11 oz complete-system figure visible until you have confirmed your exact configuration.
