Two nominal sleeping-pad widths are a useful first check, but they are not the whole sleeping-space decision. The Summit 2P has an approximately 86.6 × 55 inch rectangular floor and two doors.
Lay out the real sleeping footprints
- Measure the inflated pads at their widest points, including edge tubes.
- Place them side by side in an area matching the listed floor dimensions. Two 25-inch pads nominally total 50 inches, leaving about five inches before accounting for walls and other space.
- Add the space your sleeping bags, shoulders and small belongings need. Keep entry through both doors usable.
- Decide which belongings can go in each vestibule; do not count the entire outer footprint as sleeping floor.
Luis reports room for two people and some belongings, while Dean finds the tent tight for two larger people unless gear stays outside. Those original accounts explain why arithmetic should lead to a fit check rather than a guarantee.
If the pair fits only by pressing bedding into the walls or blocking a door, choose more room instead of relying on the two-person label. See the tent review for the separate weather limitations.
