Field Belt owners disagree about hold: Ryan finds the setting rock solid, while another says it does not stay tight. A third describes a learning curve with the unusual buckle. Those accounts justify a setup check without assuming the unhappy owner threaded it incorrectly.
Locate the movement
| Observation during ordinary wear | Next useful step |
|---|---|
| Webbing visibly moves through the buckle | Compare threading with the manufacturer’s exact instructions |
| Belt setting stays fixed but pants sag | Check garment waist fit and what the pockets are carrying |
| Buckle presses under a pack belt | Assess the overlap and sitting comfort |
| Correctly configured belt still slips | Document it and request a remedy |
Use a temporary, removable reference on the webbing if needed to see whether the adjustment actually moves. Avoid changes that damage the finish or webbing. Check while standing, sitting and walking with normal pocket contents; this is a clothing-fit check, not a load-bearing test.
The Field Belt assessment records its 1.5-inch width and buckle dimensions. If the waist itself is excessively loose, a different pant fit may be the appropriate fix.
