A correct overall length can still select the wrong Spot Slicker. Esteban’s first-generation Diamondback 20–60×85 matched the length but the middle buckle would not reach. This is a body-envelope problem, not proof that the cover needs to be stretched harder.
Send the dimensions that explain the failure
- Exact instrument make, model, generation and straight/angled configuration.
- Overall length including any permanently used accessory.
- Body circumference or width/height at the middle-band position.
- A description of which band or end fails to seat naturally.
Ask the cover maker to match those details to the current size. An 85 mm objective identifies one optical dimension; it does not describe the whole housing. Esteban’s Diamondback and Eddie’s angled Razor accounts should not become a universal 85 mm size rule.
| Fit result | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| Ends align; middle buckle cannot reach | Length may be right, girth may be wrong |
| All bands close; cover slides | Universal shape may not retain firmly |
| Closure requires strong stretching | Do not assume forcing it confirms compatibility |
After a confirmed size arrives, check normal handling and lens-end access without forcing the bands. The Spot Slicker review keeps both the failed-closure and slipping accounts visible. Retain packaging until the fit is established.
